Australia Day

John Harper Australia Day AmbassadorThe LPSC Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals who inspire us through their accomplishments, in service to our community, culture and sports. Nominating someone is not only good for the individual. It is also good for the entire community. It encourages other people to follow their example.

As a community we rely heavily on their commitment and dedication to enriching the fabric of our society and the awards provide an opportunity to say thank you and well done. Be it a friend, family member, workmate or someone you have met while serving the community, nominate them now for a LPS 2020 Australia Day Award.

The Liverpool Plains Shire Australia Day Ambassador 2020 has been announced as John Harper.

John is a wheat/sheep farmer from Stockinbingal NSW who, in 2006 began Mate helping Mate in the north-east Riverina. John had recognised that as a consequence of the continuing drought and being rural or regional, many of his neighbours were becoming isolated or socially withdrawn.
Having experienced depression, John understood that this isolation and withdrawal placed people at risk of developing a mental illness.
Considering the importance of mental health wellbeing to members of our community in the current drought crisis John is a very appropriate person to be our Ambassador.
He will attend our Awards Ceremony and other Australia Day events around the Shire,
