Water Restrictions
ALTERATION TO WATER RESTRICTIONS
Consumers are advised that the following changes to WATER RESTRICTIONS will apply, as summarised below, until further notice.
Level 1 Water Restrictions
QUIRINDI, WERRIS CK, BLACKVILLE, CAROONA, PREMER & SPRING RIDGE, WILLOW TREE, WALLABADAH – Residential Use
LEVEL 1 Details of Level 1 Water Restrictions are as follows:
v Residential Gardens – Fixed hoses and sprinklers are BANNED between the hours of 8am and 5pm. No restriction on hand held hoses or water efficient micro-spray irrigation systems.
v Car Washing – No restriction. Do not leave hose running, use a trigger nozzle on hand held hose.
v Washing of Driveways & Paved Areas – BANNED. Only permitted for health and safety reasons in Commercial, Industrial and Public areas. Sweeping and other dry methods are encouraged.
v Swimming Pools – No restriction, consider a cover to reduce evaporation.
v All Sports Grounds and Sporting Facilities (including public parks & gardens, school grounds) – No restriction, reduce evaporation by avoiding watering in the heat or middle of the day and on windy days.
v Commercial operation Nurseries, Orchards etc – No restriction, reduce evaporation by avoiding watering in the heat or middle of the day and on windy days.
v All other essential water use associated with commercial and industry operations of business is permissible. Businesses should follow water-efficient practices and minimise water use, respecting the restrictions that apply to the general community, as outlined above e.g. lawn area watering in front of premise.
v Water cartage from standpipes is allowed with no restriction by licensed carters. Under the Local Government Act an on-the-spot fine of $220.00 may be imposed for breach of the water restriction regulations. Further breaches can attract penalties up to $2200.
