Work getting underway on the Lowes Creek Road deviation

Liverpool Plains Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Doug Hawkins OAM, has welcomed the commencement of work on Stage 1 of the deviation of Lowes Creek Road at Quipolly.

 “This project is being undertaken adjacent to the site for the Quipolly Water Project’s (QWP) new water treatment plant at Quipolly Dam.

 “Works include placement of the pavement formation and gravel surface. The project will provide better access to the construction site and the new facility when it is completed,” he said.

 “Stage 2 will include sealing works to be undertaken after construction of the facility is completed.

 “The project is funded through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure fund at a cost of $130,000,” he continued.

 “Stage 1 is being carried out while the detailed design is being completed for the $32.5 million QWP following the awarding of the contract to Gongues Constructions. It will be ready to support construction which is set to start within a few months with up to 80 full time jobs expected over the 2 year construction period plus providing other valuable economic stimulus to the local economy.

“The QWP will provide will deliver high quality drinking water to Werris Creek plus a high level of water security to our Shire including enough supply for new industrial opportunities that may arise,” Councillor Hawkins concluded.
